Job Description / Responsibility
- Senior Accountant – Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Daily Accounting
- Maintain all accounting records and ledgers.
- Record sales, purchases, expenses, receipts, and payments.
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable.
- Ensure proper documentation for every transaction
- Control and approve customer credit limit
- Milk Procurement Accounting
- Verify milk collection records from farmers/suppliers.
- Reconcile milk quantity, fat/SNF, purchase price, and supplier payments.
- Prepare farmer/supplier payment statements.
- Monitor outstanding supplier balances.
- Production Costing
- Calculate the production cost of milk, yogurt, laban, sweet yogurt, butter, etc.
- Track raw materials, packaging materials, labor, utilities, and other production costs.
- Calculate cost per liter/kg/unit.
- Compare actual production cost with budgeted cost.
- Inventory & Stock Control
- Monitor raw milk, packaging materials, finished products, and other inventory.
- Reconcile physical stock with accounting records.
- Monitor product wastage, spoilage, expiry, and stock losses.
- Coordinate with production and warehouse teams for stock verification.
- Sales & Distribution Accounting
- Reconcile daily sales with sales reports and cash/bank collections.
- Monitor distributor, dealer, retailer, and customer outstanding balances.
- Prepare aging reports for receivables.
- Follow up on overdue payments with the sales team.
- Cash & Bank Management
- Maintain daily cash position.
- Prepare bank reconciliation statements.
- Monitor company bank accounts and payments.
- Control petty cash and verify supporting documents.
- Financial Reporting
- Prepare monthly profit & loss statements.
- Prepare balance sheet and cash-flow reports.
- Prepare monthly management accounts.
- Analyze revenue, gross profit, expenses, and profitability by product.
- Budget & Cost Control
- Assist in preparing annual budgets.
- Compare actual results against budgets.
- Identify major cost variances.
- Recommend ways to reduce unnecessary costs.
- Tax & Compliance
- Maintain records required for VAT/tax compliance.
- Coordinate VAT, tax, audit, and regulatory documentation.
- Assist external auditors during annual audits.
- Ensure accounting practices comply with applicable laws and company policies.
- Internal Control
- Establish proper approval and payment procedures.
- Check purchase invoices, sales invoices, expense claims, and payment documents.
- Identify accounting errors, irregularities, and potential fraud.
- Ensure proper segregation of financial responsibilities.
- Management Support
- Provide management with financial information for decision-making.
- Prepare product-wise profitability reports.
- Analyze distributor/customer profitability.
- Provide financial analysis for new products, promotions, and investments.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Commerce (BCom)
- Master of Commerce (MCom)
Experience Requirements
- 5 to 10 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Dairy, Livestock, Tea Garden
