Job Description / Responsibility
- Job Purpose
- We are looking for an experienced and creative Manager – Design & Product Development to lead the design, development, and commercialization of woven and outerwear products. The role will be responsible for translating buyer requirements into commercially viable products while ensuring design innovation, technical feasibility, quality, and timely development.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall design and product development process for woven and outerwear products.
- Develop new styles, concepts, silhouettes, colorways, and product details according to buyer requirements and market trends.
- Collaborate closely with Merchandising, CAD & Pattern, Technical, Fabric Inspection & Washing teams.
- Review buyer tech packs, sketches, specifications, and development requirements.
- Ensure product designs are technically feasible for bulk production.
- Coordinate sample development from initial concept through final approval.
- Drive fit, construction, fabric, trims, accessories, and workmanship improvements.
- Work with fabric and trim teams to identify suitable materials for product development.
- Conduct product reviews and provide technical/design solutions for development challenges.
- Ensure product development timelines are achieved as per T&A and buyer requirements.
- Develop innovative and cost-effective products while maintaining required quality standards.
- Monitor industry trends, new materials, technologies, and outerwear construction techniques.
- Guide and develop the Design & Product Development team.
- Maintain proper documentation and records of development activities, samples, and approvals.
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Fashion Designing, Textile Engineering
- Master of Science (MSc)
Experience Requirements
- 10 to 20 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Garments
Additional Job Requirements
- Age 28 to 45 years
- Strong knowledge of outerwear construction, garment components, fabrics, trims, and finishing techniques.
- Practical experience in product development from concept to production.
- Strong understanding of pattern, fit, garment construction, and technical specifications.
- Experience working with international buyers and export-oriented apparel manufacturing will be preferred.
- Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and team-management skills.
- Must be creative, proactive, commercially aware, and capable of working under pressure.
