Job Description / Responsibility
- A reputed sourcing company is looking for an experienced Garment Technician to join its Knit/Woven Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all garment samples and bulk production meet buyer specifications in terms of fit, construction, and quality. This role requires close coordination with factories, merchandising, and QA teams to maintain the highest standards throughout the product development and production process.
- Job Responsibilities:
- Review garment samples — including fit samples, PP (pre-production) samples, size set samples, and shipment samples — to check construction quality, workmanship, and accuracy of measurements against buyer specification sheets
- Prepare clear, detailed technical comments on fit, PP, size set, and shipment samples, and verify that all corrections align with buyer requirements before approval
- Ensure garments consistently meet buyer specifications, measurement charts, and established quality standards at every stage of development and production
- Communicate technical comments, fit issues, and required corrective actions to factories in a clear and timely manner to avoid production delays
- Work closely with Merchandising, QA, and Production teams to identify, discuss, and resolve technical issues that arise during sampling or bulk production
- Follow up with factories on pattern corrections, grading accuracy, and garment construction improvements, ensuring changes are implemented correctly
- Monitor ongoing production to confirm that approved standards, techniques, and specifications are being maintained throughout the run
- Proactively identify potential technical risks — such as fit inconsistencies, construction flaws, or grading errors — and recommend practical solutions before they impact production
- Attend fit sessions in person or virtually, evaluate garments against buyer requirements, and prepare comprehensive, well-documented fit reports
- Coordinate closely with all stakeholders to ensure timely sample approvals, helping the team stay on track to meet shipment deadlines
Educational Requirements
- Diploma in Textile Engineering
- Bachelor/Honors
Experience Requirements
- 1 to 5 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Garments, Sweater Industry
Additional Job Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a Buying House, Garment Factory, or Sourcing Office
- Strong hands-on experience working with both Knit and Woven garments is preferred
- Prior experience handling fit sessions, sample evaluation, and direct factory communication is highly desirable
- Additional Requirements:
- Excellent knowledge of garment construction, pattern making, grading, sewing techniques, and body/garment measurements
- Strong understanding of buyer quality requirements, technical packages, and specification sheets
- Good communication skills in English, both written and spoken, to liaise effectively with buyers, factories, and internal teams
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for reporting and documentation
- Ability to work independently under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and consistently meet tight deadlines
- Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and problem-solving skills
