Job Description / Responsibility
  • 1. About Smart Academy
  • A rural Islamic English Medium school founded in 2020 with a mission to provide quality education to underprivileged children in remote areas of Bangladesh.
  • Curriculum is a tri-stream model: Cambridge CAIE + Bangladesh NCTB + Islamic Studies (Qur'an, Tajweed, Aqeedah, Seerah, Arabic) — Tarbiyyah (character) and Ta'leem (knowledge) inseparable.
  • 500+ students PlayGroup → Class 9 · 40+ teachers · 65+ staff. Class 10 launching January 2027; Classes 11–12 (Science/Commerce/Arts) by 2028.
  • Recognition: 100% SSC pass rate (first batch 2024); National Science Fair Champion (2022, 2024); National Robotics Olympiad medalist (2024); Ministry of Education commendation; Best Islamic Educational Institution (district, 2023); Best Employer — Education Sector (2024).
  • Because the campus is rural and remote, online volunteer teachers are not a "nice-to-have" — they are how we bring world-class subject expertise to children whose villages have no access to it.
  • 2. Position Purpose
  • Expand teaching capacity beyond the on-campus payroll by inviting global Muslims, NRBs, retirees, university students, and subject experts to teach for a term.
  • ·Bring fresh voices, international exposure, and specialist expertise into rural classrooms.
  • Build a community of Sadaqah Jariyah contributors — for whom every hour taught is a continuing reward.
  • 3. Time Commitment Options
  • Seedling — 1 hr / week — one live class or one mentoring call — for busy professionals.
  • Sapling — 2–3 hr / week — two live classes or one class + one mentoring — for university students.
  • Tree — 4–6 hr / week — multiple subjects, optional monthly campus visit — for retired teachers and deeply committed mentors.
  • One-off Guest — single session — a talk, workshop, or live demo — for industry experts and visiting NRBs.
  • 4. Subjects in Demand
  • Bangla — Class 1–10
  • English (Speaking, Phonics, Literature) — PlayGroup–Class 10
  • Mathematics — Class 3–10
  • Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology) — Class 6–10
  • ICT / Computer Studies / Programming — Class 3–10
  • Arabic Language — All classes
  • Qur'an & Tajweed — All classes
  • Islamic Studies — All classes
  • Arts, Craft, Calligraphy — All classes
  • Life Skills, Career Talks — Class 7–10
  • Sports coaching (visiting) — All classes
  • 5. Who We Are Looking For
  • University students (final-year and above) wanting meaningful teaching exposure.
  • Working professionals (any field) who can spare one hour a week.
  • Retired teachers and professors, especially from Noakhali, Cumilla, Feni, Chattogram, and Lakshmipur.
  • Non-Resident Bangladeshis (NRBs) and global Muslims who want to give back.
  • Hafiz / Hafiza and Madrasah graduates for Qur'an, Tajweed, and Arabic.
  • Native English and native Arabic speakers for language immersion.
  • Subject-matter experts from industry (engineers, doctors, designers, founders) for career talks and STEM mentoring.
  • Counsellors, psychologists, and life-skill mentors for Class 7–10 wellbeing.
  • Non-Muslim volunteers are welcome for non-religious subjects, provided the school's Islamic environment is respected.
  • 6. Key Responsibilities
  • Teaching
  • Deliver one or more weekly classes (or a single guest session) using the lesson plan provided by Academic Affairs or co-create one with the subject coordinator.
  • Teach for 40 minutes per class (or as scheduled) over the agreed 8-week term.
  • Coordinate every class with the on-campus co-teacher who manages classroom discipline, attendance, and tech setup.
  • Use the school's smart-board mirror via Zoom so students see and hear you clearly in real time.
  • Assessment & Follow-Up
  • Mark and return any work you set (quizzes, worksheets) within 7 days.
  • For one-off guests, share the slides/notes you used with the co-teacher for student follow-up.
  • Submit a short end-of-term reflection (one page) so we can improve the programme.
  • Safeguarding & Compliance
  • Maintain a child-safe digital environment: no personal contact details shared with students, no one-to-one chat outside school-monitored channels, full adherence to the Child Safeguarding Policy you sign at orientation.
  • Complete the 2-hour Smart Academy Volunteer Orientation before your first class (school culture, Islamic ethos, classroom etiquette, learning portal, safeguarding).
  • Honour the school's modesty code on camera (dress, language, neutral background).
  • Engagement & Improvement
  • Attend a fortnightly 15-minute check-in with the Academic Affairs Lead during your term.
  • Participate in the optional monthly volunteer community call.
