Job Description / Responsibility
  • Institute of Applied Health Sciences (IAHS), located at near Foy’s Lake, Khulshi, Chattogram, Bangladesh was founded in 1989 by pre-eminent National Professor Dr. Nurul Islam, an iconic figure in the field of Medical Education in Bangladesh, South Asia and the world. The institution has accorded recognition by Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BM&DC) on 12 July 1990 and now affiliated with Chittagong Medical University. Bangladesh College of Physicians and Surgeons (BCPS) recognizes the Institute of Applied Health Sciences Hospital (IAHS-H) for offering post graduate training in different departments.
  • Applications are invited from qualified, experienced, outstanding scholars and administrators for the position of Vice Principal, IAHS as per BM&DC rules.
  • Job Description/Responsibilities:
  • To assist the Principal in implementing the academic calendar, curriculum, and teaching schedules.
  • To oversee academic performance and maintain teaching standards.
  • To supervise examination schedules, assessments, and internal evaluations.
  • To ensure effective classroom management and discipline among faculty and students.
  • To facilitate continuing medical education (CME), workshops, and seminars.
  • To support the Principal in overall management of the college.
  • To act as the Acting Principal in his/her absence.
  • To liaise with various departments to ensure smooth day-to-day operations.
  • To ensure adherence to policies set by the Ministry of Health, BM & DC (Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council), and affiliated university (e.g., Chittagong Medical University).
  • To coordinate with hospital administration for clinical training and student placements.
  • To assist in recruitment, evaluation, and development of teaching staff.
  • To monitor attendance and performance of teaching and non-teaching staff.
  • To introduce and oversee internal audits of academic processes and systems.
  • To take appropriate initiatives in qualitative changes, ensuring consistent academic quality and standards;
  • To coordinate between different faculties, departments, and administrative units;
  • To administer the matters related to student development, welfare, discipline, and academic progress;
  • To ensure a safe, inclusive, and academically conducive environment on campus;
  • To contribute to policy formulation, planning, and implementation;
  • To execute any other activities assigned by the authority.

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery(MBBS)
  • Fellowship of the College of Physicians and Surgeons (FCPS)
  • MBBS, FCPS/MS/MD/MPH/equivalent (PhD will be preferable) as per rules of BM&DC.
Experience Requirements
  • At least 18 years

Additional Job Requirements
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in Teaching and Administration in reputed Medical College.
  • Strong understanding of medical education regulations in Bangladesh.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Strict adherence to office hours and enthusiasm for working beyond those hours when the institutional need requires.
