Job Description / Responsibility

- Introduction:
- The Ready-Made-Garments (RMG) Sustainability Council (RSC) is an unprecedented initiative to ensure that garments exported from Bangladesh are produced in safe factories. The RSC carries forward the significant accomplishments made on workplace safety in Bangladesh following the Tazreen fire and Rana Plaza collapse incidents. The RSC conducts structural, electrical, fire, and boiler safety inspections of factories, supports and monitors remediation, conducts safety training and operates an independent safety & health complaints mechanism available to workers in RMG factories.
- Overall Job Purpose:
- The Boiler Safety Engineer is a part of the Boiler Safety department of the RSC team in Bangladesh. The role reports into the Senior Boiler Safety Engineer and is based in the RSC office in Bangladesh.
- The Boiler Safety Engineer is responsible for field execution of inspections, reporting, and remediation follow-up within assigned factories. The role supports departmental operations through technical assessments, documentation, and coordination with factories and internal teams. The role assists the Senior Boiler Safety Engineer in the execution of day-to-day operations of the department, regular reporting, data management and all other departmental activities.

- Scheduling and Execution of Factory Inspections
- Provide engineering support to the RSC inspection program and training initiatives
- Conduct factory inspections in accordance with the RSC guidelines and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Provide engineering support to factory to develop maintenance plans/schedule
- Identify and guide factory to mitigate potential boiler safety hazards and associated risks
- Review design, drawings and calculations with related software (Auto CAD, etc.)
- Creation of Inspection Reports
- Produce inspection reports in accordance with RSC protocols in a timely manner
- Quality Assurance
- Prepare accurate and timely inspection reports
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, findings, and corrective actions
- Ensure proper documentation of qualitative and quantitative data and case files for each assigned factory
- Remediation Plans
- Conduct necessary follow-up with RPD and factory to ensure remediation plans are finalised within the timeframes of the RSC
- Assist the Senior Boiler Safety Engineer with the remediation plans and enforcement of OSH complaint & SCWT mechanism & resolutions
- Represent the RSC with good manner and professionalism and technical excellence, with all external stakeholder, brands and industry as assigned by the ATL, the TL, the HoD, Boiler Safety, Senior HoD – Electrical & Boiler Safety and the CSO
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Electrical & Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering
- Bachelor`s degree (BSc) in Electrical/Mechanical/Mechatronics engineering from any reputed university
Experience Requirements
- At least 3 years
- The applicants should have experience in the following business area(s): Garments, Group of Companies
Additional Job Requirements
- Age At most 35 years
- At least 3 years of demonstrated experience in boiler safety inspection or operation & maintenance
- Key Skills:
- Experience of boiler designing/installation will be considered as an advantage
- Sound understanding of all safety regulations and norms for working in boiler rooms
- Ability to read and understand hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical drawings and schematics
- Proficiency in written and spoken English
- Excellent organisational and recordkeeping skills to manage information and documentation for many individual factory corrective action plans
- Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet programs (Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel), efficient use and management of e-mail communications; and ability to manage data on multiple individual cases
- Capability to work effectively with workers, factory owners/managers, brand representatives
- Professionalism, discretion, and the ability to cope with stressful situations
- Integrity, honesty, a strong work ethic, and commitment to the goals of the RSC and the RMG industry
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to build excellent working relationships
