About the role:
Australia Awards - South Asia & Mongolia (AASAM) is administered by Palladium on behalf of the Australian Government's Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). The Program goal is to support eight partner countries - Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka - in achieving their development goals through education and knowledge transfer, and to build enduring relationships with Australia that advance mutual interests.

AASAM is seeking a Country Program Manager (CPM) - Bangladesh to manage the effective and efficient delivery of the Program in Bangladesh. This includes the provision of informed advice to Dhaka Post on program design; the management and oversight of all country program activities; team leadership and performance; and financial management.

Additionally, as a member of the Program's Senior Management Team, the CPM contributes to the performance and continuous improvement of the region-wide Program.

Reporting Lines :

The CPM reports to the Colombo-based Team Leader.

Key internal working relationships include: the Deputy Team Leader, Senior Program & Operations Manager, other CPMs, Manager - Continuing Professional Development Solutions, Regional Finance & Administration Manager, Regional Communications Coordinator, Regional Alumni Coordinator, Scholar Engagement Coordinator, Gender Equality, Disability & Social Inclusion Coordinator, and a number of supporting Short-term Advisers and Palladium personnel.

Key external working relationships include: the Australian High Commission in Dhaka, representatives of the Government of Bangladesh, Australian host universities, sub-contracted training providers, sub-contracted consultants, and program applicants, scholars/recipients and alumni.

The CPM supervises a team of four staff.

Primary Roles and Responsibilities :


The CPM - Bangladesh will be responsible for strategic leadership, stakeholder engagement, team leadership, operations management, finance and administration management, and all reporting and documentation related to the running of the Australia Awards program in Bangladesh.

Essential Criteria :
  • Experience of working - preferably in a leadership role - within a diverse, dispersed multicultural team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with senior stakeholders
  • Demonstrated capability in at least two of the following technical areas: alumni engagement; communications; events management; gender equality, disability and social inclusion; monitoring, evaluation and learning; process management; training needs analysis
  • High level written and verbal English language skills
  • Proven capability in the preparation of plans and reports for external audiences
  • Financial and computer literacy
  • High ethical standards and a commitment to integrity and professionalism
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications
