Job Description / Responsibility

  • The Candidates should have extraordinary track record in banking preferably in Islamic Banking throughout his professional career.

  • Job Description:
  • Provide strategic leadership and collaborate with other functional areas to achieve business objectives with legal strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and Central Bank guidelines to identify legal risks and develop strategies to mitigate them effectively.
  • Oversee legal drafts, review and negotiation of legal documents, contracts and agreements to protect the interests of the bank.
  • Manage all legal disputes, litigation and regulatory proceedings involving the Bank, including coordination with external legal counsel.
  • Provide legal assistance for daily operational matters, contracts, opinions, documentation, etc.
  • Develop and implement robust legal policies, procedures and frameworks to streamline operations, enhance compliance and mitigate legal risks across the organization.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Board of Directors and senior management on corporate governance matters, ensuring adherence to corporate governance principles and best practices.
  • Stay abreast of changes in regulatory requirements and liaise with then to ensure timely reporting.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, stakeholders and regulatory bodies.
  • Lead, mentor and develop a high-performance team within the division.

Educational Requirements
  • Bachelor/Honors
  • Minimum Graduation Degree in Law (LL.B) from any recognized university approved by UGC.
  • Candidates having 3rd Division/Class in any academic qualifications need not apply
Experience Requirements
  • At least 10 years

Additional Job Requirements
  • Age at most 55 years
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years working experience in handling related cases including 5 years of working experience in the legal department/legal team of a bank or financial institution. Barrister-at-law or Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M)/PHD/higher degree in Law will be an added advantage.
  • Candidates having Shariah Based Banking experience will be given preference. 
  • Professional Qualifications:
  • An active bar council member in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Extensive knowledge of corporate law, contract law, litigation, mediation, Treasury related bond and contract, contract negotiation, regulatory compliance etc.
  • Proven track record in completing legal cases and reduce turnaround time in legal case closing.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and make data-driven decisions.
  • Experience in managing and developing high-performance teams.
  • Age:
  • Not More than 55 Years.
  • Age limit may be relaxed for exceptionally suitable Candidates.
