  • Job Context:
  • BPEL is a substation manufacturer company since 2007. We have own manufacturing plant at Tongi, Gazipur. We supply, installation, testing, commissioning as Trunkey basis Sub Station, Busbar Trunkey System (BBT), Generator, LPS & Solar system. We are also capable for design, supply, installation, testing, commissioning of LV & MV electrical system.
  • Job Description / Responsibility:
  • A Procurement Manager in an electrical substation company's core responsibility is to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of equipment, materials, and services needed for substation projects as well as developing procurement strategies, managing the supply base, negotiating contracts, and managing relationships with suppliers to meet the sales needs and budget constraints.
  • Here's a more detailed breakdown of the key responsibilities:
  • Strategic Procurement & Sourcing:
  • Developing and implementing procurement strategies: This includes defining the overall approach to sourcing equipment, materials, and services for substation projects.
  • Monitor market trends: Stay informed about market conditions, pricing, and new technologies to identify cost-saving opportunities and ensure competitive sourcing.
  • Managing the supply base: This involves identifying, evaluating, and selecting suppliers who can meet the firm's needs in terms of quality, price, and delivery.
  • Optimizing inventory management: This ensures that the right materials are available at the right time, minimizing storage costs and preventing shortages.
  • Financial forecasting: This involves predicting procurement costs and managing the budget to ensure projects stay within the allocated resources.
  • Overseeing the entire procurement process: From initial need identification to contract closure and commissioning.
  • Operational Task & Supplier Relationship Management:
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers: This involves building strong, collaborative relationships with suppliers to foster trust and ensure long-term partnerships.
  • Negotiating contracts and service level agreements: This ensures that the best possible terms are secured, including pricing, delivery schedules, and quality standards.
  • Developing and managing a Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) program: This helps track supplier performance, identify areas for improvement, and ensure that suppliers meet the firm's requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal departments: Work closely with engineering, operations, and other teams to understand procurement needs and ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Manage purchase orders and contracts: Finalize purchase details, approve purchase requests and orders, and ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and legal requirements.
  • Negotiate favorable terms and conditions: Negotiate contracts with suppliers to secure the best possible prices, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
  • Risk Management:
  • Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks: This involves assessing potential disruptions, such as material shortages or supplier failures, and developing strategies to minimize their impact.
  • Conducting risk assessments and providing recommendations: This helps the firm proactively address potential risks and improve its overall supply chain resilience.
  • Project Support:
  • Working closely with engineering and construction teams: This ensures that procurement decisions align with project needs and that materials are delivered on time and to the correct specifications.
  • Providing lessons learned for continuous improvement: This involves analyzing past procurement experiences to identify areas where processes can be improved and efficiency can be increased.

Educational Requirements
  • Diploma in Engineering in Electrical, Power & Electronics Technology, Bachelor of Science (BSc) in EEE/ME
  • Diploma in Electrical, Power & Electronics Technology or B.Sc. in EEE/ME
  • Education qualification may be considered for higher professionally skilled person.

  • At least 8 years
