Job Description / Responsibility
  • Handicap International-Humanity & Inclusion (HI) has been working in Bangladesh since 1997, focusing on creating sustainable changes to ensure the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities in society.
  • Number of staff: Around 342 national staff and 4 international staff.
  • HI is currently looking for an Information Management & Knowledge Management Manager for its anticipated project.
  • Job Location: Ukhiya
  • Type of Contract: Fixed-Term
  • Duration of the Contract: May 2024 – September 2025
  • Line Manager: South Asia-Regional MEAL Manager
  • *This position is contingent upon a contract award.
  • Mission 1: Strategy and steering
  • Contributes to defining the MEAL action plan concerning information and knowledge management priorities;
  • Forwards to the Regional MEAL manager any information or difficulties that could help improve systems;
  • Helps drive the performance of the MEAL department.
  • Mission 2 : Standards and Expertise
  • Responsibility 1: Defines the information management and database systems of the project
  • Implements, exploits, and develops the information management system

  • Ensures the coherency and integration of these systems to monitor the development of defined indicators under the comprehensive reporting framework
  • Responsibility 2: Developing learning and knowledge formalization systems in line with existing institutional frameworks
  • Develops, improves, and promotes methods and tools for the collection, analysis, modelling, and ownership of the knowledge produced.
  • Establish online platforms to accommodate knowledge sharing and collaboration at the field, national, and regional level
  • Responsibility 3: Ensures the quality of data and compliance with HI standards
  • Trains the teams in charge of data collection, processing, and reporting (HI and partners);
  • Implements procedures for quality control and the definition of information flows;
  • Ensures the rollout of internal data management standards;
  • Contributes to secure data transfer exercises with partner, HQ, region, country, and the field.
  • Mission 3 : Operational implementation
  • Responsibility 1: Supports operational teams with data analysis and use
  • Produces visualizations and analyses of statistics following needs at the project and program level;
  • Helps operational teams to interpret their data and use it for decision-making purposes;
  • Ensures the internal and external dissemination of data utilizing adapted communication formats.
  • Responsibility 2: Puts mechanisms in place to guarantee the protection of beneficiaries’ data
  • Carries out impact analyses of data protection on the programme;
  • Coordinates the implementation of operational procedures and an action plan to reinforce data protection;
  • Trains/sensitizes the programme teams on good data protection practices;
  • Ensures the security of the databases.
  • Responsibility 3: Contributes to the external representation and promotion of HI’s IM expertise.
  • Upon request, represents HI’s IM expertise in all relevant networks in his or her geographical area of intervention.
  • Mission 4: Emergency preparedness and response
  • Contributes to the programme’s emergency preparedness actions and, in an emergency, adapts his or her working methods to contribute to an effective humanitarian approach by HI.

Educational Requirements
  • Master’s degree in any discipline.

Additional Job Requirements
  • Age at least 18 years
  • At least 5 years of similar professional (Information Management and Knowledge Management) experience in the humanitarian/development context.
  • A proven track record of working in monitoring and evaluation; data management, presentation and visualization, and/or a track record of publishing and/or working with media is preferred
  • Excellent computer literacy in MS Office, including Power BI. Efficiency in SQL, SurveyCTO/Kobo Toolbox, and GIS is preferred
  • Proven experience in building a project Management Information System (MIS)
  • Data Analysis: Data analysis with Excel or SPSS preferred
  • Languages: Excellent communication skills in English, Bangla
  • Writing and Analytical skills: Excellent report writing and analytical skills in Bangla and English
  • Personal qualities: Willingness, ability to perform fieldwork and work under pressure, taking initiative
  • Reliable, honest, very good organizational skills, resistant to stress, good interpersonal skills (communication), and a team player.
